A Culinary Journey to Lyon

Wednesday, 13 July 2022

Discovering Lyon, the world's food capital, along with learning about its thriving food markets, authentic Lyonnaise cuisine, Michelin-starred restaurants, and burgeoning culinary scene.

In 2022, I embarked on a culinary journey to Lyon, the food capital of the world, with the goal of expanding my knowledge of French cuisine.
Lyon is renowned for its gastronomic heritage and is home to many Michelin-starred restaurants, traditional bouchons, and local markets filled with fresh produce.
From the moment I arrived in Lyon, I was struck by the city's vibrant food scene. The city is known for its traditional Lyonnaise cuisine, which is characterized by hearty meat dishes, rich sauces, and locally sourced produce. I immediately set out to explore the city's markets, eager to sample some of the local delicacies. Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse was a particular highlight.
No trip to Lyon would be complete without a visit to some of the city's top restaurants. Lyon is home to many Michelin-starred establishments, and I made it a point to try some of the city's most renowned dining destinations. The food was exquisite, and I was amazed by the skill and creativity of the chefs. However, what stood out to me was the emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. It was clear that the chefs were deeply rooted in the city's culinary history and were committed to preserving its traditions.
